Launching his debut collection Todd Snyder (ex head of menswear for J Crew) was looking for a presentation that reflected his love for English tailoring and detail juxtaposed with the iron-clad craftsmanship and classic silhouettes of vintage military garments. I created a graphic space using photography and tube lighting – cute boys and great music. Guests experienced some Iowan hospitality with whiskey cocktails and the evening was a blast. Of course I didn’t to save a set for myself so sadly no pictures but I created a wonderful goody bag containing engraved hip flasks, look books, ties in bespoke packaging and other treats.

Independent British fashion designer Sophie Hulme wanted a simple but dramatic installation for her Autumn / Winter 2010 Collection to be shown during London Fashion Week.

My solution was to suspend the individual pieces on powder-coated hangers and meat hooks, giving the show a 360 degree aesthetic, the garments themselves appeared to float in mid air. Each hanger featured a laser cut brass number that related to the graphic description grid. A bespoke sound installation completed the experience.

This projected was completed whilst I was at Marmalade London. All event management and production was handled by Marmalade London.

The concept for the website was the utilisation of traditional book layouts reflecting the company name, but also to introduce an element of ‘making’ to reflect its content. The overall aesthetic was made contemporary by the use of graphic frames and flourishes fashioned from punctuation – everything on the website is made using symbols found in a traditional typeface. All designers featured on the site were given a bespoke frazme for their images. Recognition was given to the element of craft and the handmade by a bespoke display font animated to blossom, giving each page movement and individuality.

This premium skincare range for new mothers, mothers to be and babies, uses the minimum of ingredients.

We created a comprehensive brand identity symbolising motherhood and the essence of the product range in both a graphic and emotive context.

We worked with the client to establish their core brand message of ‘minimum ingredient = maximum results’ which led us to develop the Bloom and Blossom number sequence that became an integral part of the design.

The adult and baby ranges were differentiated through the use of a soft colour palette for the baby products and monochrome for the mothers.

This projected was completed whilst I was at Marmalade London.

Universal Music required complete set design and event management for the launch of Keane’s new album ‘A Perfect Symmetry’.

Taking its inspiration from the album title we designed a series of four installations that reflected the essence of symmetry.

Firstly as guests entered they were met with glowing eyes and a huge pile of boxes. The guests walked around to the other side where the image of half a sleeping woman was revealed. The image over 10 meters long, was cut out and pasted over sixty cardboard boxes. This image was then reflected in 300 mirror tiles on the floor to reveal the whole body.

This was accompanied by a sound piece of a beating heart. Secondly a close up image of a young woman’s face was divided down the middle and reflected in a mirror panel to create the perfectly symmetrical face, this installation was placed in a stairwell so that guests only realised it was a reflection when they were so close that they almost walked into the image.

Thirdly sections of a man’s face was divided and recreated over several vintage television screens the face is still except for occasionally an eye would blink or his mouth would move. This too had its own sound installation but this time it was of a radio tuning in occasionally finding a music station and then moving on.

Lastly over 100 pictures of a tree were printed on to vinyl and positioned on the wall as a pixel representation of the original image.

This projected was completed whilst I was at Marmalade London. All production was handled by Marmalade London.

For the launch of the La Redoute / Christian Lacroix collection an autumnal scene was created with umbrellas overhanging the entrance to this transformed townhouse, hand-cut white paper leaves crackled underfoot. As press entered the house they encountered a series of ‘greenhouse worlds’, each reflecting the collections of the season.

Each greenhouse created a unique ambience; neon lights and suspended furniture reflected the bold graphic prints of the Christian Lacroix collection whilst models decorated miniature cupcakes with brightly coloured icing.

The Soft Gray Collection contained a huge ball of wool that created a web up the stair well, casting fantastic shadows throughout the space. The ball slowly rotated and as guests ascended the stairs they found a model at the top quietly knitting away, attached to the web below. The Unité collection was comprised of a series of multi-directional angle poise lamps. Reams of paper were piled in towers while an injection of colour was added by hundereds of bright orange pencils. As guests ascended the marble staircase a sheltered canopy of umbrellas was revealed.
